GRAND DAY OUT

We are Old friends of the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and intend on introducing the older generation into the park more by providing more activities they would enjoy. The park is set in such a beautiful place we feel they would not only enjoy the sculptures but also the environment all around them.

By encouraging retired people to come to the park we hope they will bring families along with them as there is something for everyone. All age groups can appreciate the sculptures, which are all across the park, but it can also just be a nice walk out. By having a launch event with various activities and a release of our new products we hope this will show people more about the park.

We have designed and made a variety of products, mainly aimed at our older audience but also for a wide range of age groups, as they may want to buy gifts while they are at the park. By making quite different products it appeals to a wider range of people rather than just a specific market. As all our products are hand made at our launch event there will be activities showing the different techniques that have been used in parts of our products, the miniature sculptures for example we will have a modelling class on during the day. This is something everyone can get involved in and enjoy.

As we have been advertising our products online we have already have some positive feedback;

“ I like the little bird on the radio, quite a smart idea making it look like a bird house too. I’d certainly buy it especially if the money went to a good cause such as the park” Paper Radio.

“ I really like the key ring, looks really cool and is surprisingly like the sculpture too, defiantly worth spending money on” Miniature Sculptures.

After the launch event it will attract more interest in our products and more people will see our work and what we intend to do. So with the more people who get involved and become friends of the sculpture park, the more events that can be put on and more products could be designed. And as we are looking at older people, if they come with there families it encourages younger generations to keep coming to the park for many years to come.

Online campaign

I researched banner advertising costs and decided that this would be a good way to reach our target audience. The banners would be placed on websites that would possibly be visited by our target audience and are of a similar interest. This could include websites for other online shops with handmade items, websites advertising days out, the yorkshire sculpture park website and websites for other nature parks or museums. The banner I designed to promote the online shop and designed items uses a simple black and white effect. This links with the website's colours and is easy to read. The banners are advertising specific products we have made to promote the shop. I also included the phrase 'Click here' to make it clear that the banner is a link to another website.
